UN supports adolescent girls in India |
The United Nations Foundation`s `Girl Up` campaign announced May 1 that the campaign is expanding its fundraising efforts to help protect the rights of adolescent girls in India. The announcement was made by Girl Up teen advisor Ruhy Patel, an Indian American teen in Doyleston, Pennsylvania state of USA. A Mother`s Day fundraising campaign has kicked off building on an initial gift provided by the Caterpillar Foundation, to increase the participation of girls in India in UNFPA`s program, especially in Rajasthan. The program seeks to protect adolescent girls` rights and help girls delay marriage and wait to have children until they are ready.
