Safe UK seat for Murthy son-in-law |
Indian tech titan N R Narayana Murthy`s son-in-law Rishi Sunak has been given a safe seat to fight in the UK elections on May 7, say reports. The Conservative Party has fielded the Oxford and Stanford educated Sunak from Richmond (Yorks), constituency of heavyweight Tory leader and former foreign minister William Hague. The Minister stepped down from active politics last July and the constituency is an ultra-safe Conservative seat. It is a geographically massive constituency that covers a vast swathe of rural North Yorkshire. While, UK Prime Minister David Cameron`s Conservative party has fielded many candidates of Indian origin, some if not most could have a tough time. The Conservative party won 306 seats at the last general election and would need to win another 20 seats to secure an overall majority in the House of Commons this time. Numerous PIO candidates for Tories are fighting in safe Labor and Liberal Democrat seats where Conservatives have traditionally done badly.
