Johannesburg, South Africa - Utkarsh Entertainment & Bosbok Ses Films in association with Parnam Entertainment, have produced cross cultural & cross border film Free State to be released in April 2016 in Africa. Terwadkar Rajiv, Producer of the film had a dream to produce truly cross cultural & cross border film. The dream realized during IIFFSA 2014 hosted by Utkarsh Projects; where Sallas received Best Director award. The film is set in 1979 and tells the story of a forbidden love affair between Jeanette (Nicole Breytenbach) a white Afrikaans girl; & Ravi (Andrew Govender) an Indian man. The film has great actors like Leleti Khumalo (Sarafina, Yesterday), Deon Lotz (Roepman, Skoonheid), Rolanda Marais (Wolwedans in die Skemer, Ballade vir `n Enkeling) and Mangesh Desai (Khel Mandala). Mangesh Desai did his International Films debut through Free State. Director Sallas de Jager said “it was a challenging story to tell and I am extremely proud of the team of actors and technicians responsible for blowing life into the script” Indians were not allowed to enter into Orange Free State they had to get permits to pass through. There was a law “Whites can not have intimate relashipship with non whites!” The story touches parent child relationships in three families!
