US says RSS not a terror group |
The United States government told a court in New York that it seeks dismissal of a lawsuit that aims at declaring India`s RSS as a terror group. The US government sought time till April 14 to do so. On March 24, Judge Laura Taylor Swain of the Southern District of New York admitted a plea from US attorney Preet Bharara to file more papers. The US-based rights group, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), has filed a lawsuit in the US court to label the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as a foreign terrorist organization. The group claims that RSS allegedly believes in and practices a fascist ideology and runs a passionate, vicious and violent campaign to turn India into a `Hindu` nation with a homogeneous religious and cultural identity.
