Sting says Kejriwal tried to split Congress |
Aam Aadmi Party`s convener and Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal allegedly tried to split the Congress Party to form in government in the past. An audio tape of a reported Sting Operation has surfaced in which Kejriwal is heard encouraging ex-MLA of AAP Rajesh Garg to break six Congress MLAs away and get them to support an AAP government in Delhi. The conversation between Kejriwal and Garg, allegedly took place when the Assembly was dissolved and AAP was publicly demanding fresh polls, but privately was seeking to make the government by engineering defections from the Congress. AAP leaders, Kumar Vishwas and Ashutosh have questioned the authenticity of the tape while another leader Ashis Khetan called the conversation "political realignment". Kumar Vishwas did admit that the same tape was sent to him by Garg some months ago to allegedly blackmail the party for an election ticket in the 2015 election which was denied to him. The timing could not be worse as Kejriwal`s leadership is under attack from party`s senior members, Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, who were just days ago removed from the Political Affairs Committee and Executive Committee of AAP.
