PM urges states to join team |
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 8 announced that Niti Aayog will set up three sub-groups of chief ministers to deliberate on the future of centrally sponsored schemes, promotion of skilled manpower and push the Swachh Bharat campaign. The PM focused on `Team India`, as a vision of cooperative yet competitive federalism, to carry forward the development agenda. Modi reiterated that the focus on good governance is the need of the hour. Whatever we do, it should be well thought, it should be well executed and it should have desired outcome. The first sub-group will study all 66 centrally sponsored schemes and recommend which ones should continue, which should be transferred to states and the schemes which need to be cut down. Modi said the country needs to move away from `one size fits all`0 schemes and forge a better match between the schemes and the needs of states.
