Nitish is Bihar CM again |
Janata Dal-United leader Nitish Kumar was February 20 invited by Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to form the government in Bihar state of India, after Jitan Ram Manjhi resigned as the chief minister. Kumar paraded MLAs from several parties including his own JD (U), Congress, RJD and independent. Governor has asked him to prove majority on the floor of the house in three weeks time before March 16. Kumar said his government would take a decision to call the new budget session of Bihar Assembly and fix a date for speech of Governor in the joint session. Earlier in the day Nitish apologized to the public for resigning as chief minister after his party`s poor showing in Lok Sabha polls. Nitish`s return is being projected as a show of secular strength, with UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, his father and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and former PM H D Deve Gowda attending the swearing-in ceremony.
