Mutilation of Indian soldiers |
While Pakistan continues to deny its role in the mutilation of two Indian soldiers near the Line of Control in the Krishna Ghati sector, India said that it considers the incident a "strong act of provocation". India`s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Gopal Baglay said that India "considers it a strong act of provocation which was preceded by covering fire from Pakistan soldiers". The MEA spokesperson said the barbaric act of mutilation of soldiers violates all norms of civility. "Blood samples of the Indian soldiers that have been collected and the trail of blood clearly shows that the killers returned across the Line of Control, Gopal Baglay said. The MEA spokesperson that "those who crossed the Line of Control were not from Pakistan, but people from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). India has the evidence, blood trail sample shows that those who came from PoK, returned to the PoK side, and Pakistan personnel are responsible for this". Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit was called in by Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar who conveyed India`s outrage over the incident. India has demanded from Pakistan that whoever from their (Pakistan) Army was behind the incident be punished. On withdrawing the most-favoured nation (MFN) status to the neighbour, Gopal Baglay said that the MFN status to Pakistan is a WTO obligation that all members have to extend to each other.
