Modi in Germany pledges stable tax regime |
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a three-nation tour was at the Hanover Messe on April 12th with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and addressed German and European businesses and potential investors. Modi pledged a stable and transparent tax regime with reduced corporate taxes and a single Goods and Services Tax in 2016. Development is not a mere political agenda but an article of faith, said Modi while seeking international support to achieve the crucial objectives. The credibility of Indian economy has been restored and it is poised for rapid growth and development. Generating jobs for India`s youth is a key to harnessing India`s demographic advantage. He talked about the `Make in India` initiative as being a win-win for all, but more so to protect jobs in India. He said his foreign policy is an integral part of the national development strategy. His interactions with leaders of USA, Russia, France, Japan and China have all been aimed at creating enduring partnerships with shared stakes in global development.
