The Indian government has assured the displaced community of Kashmiri Pandits that they will be given a dignified and secure return to their home state. There are protests in Jammu and Kashmir over settlement of Kashmiri Pandits. The central government says the issue should not be politicized as it is a humanitarian one. Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh hails from the state. He was commenting on protests in Kashmir Valley against the proposed move to construct composite townships for Kashmiri Pandits. Singh said return and rehabilitation of Pandits was a very sensitive issue and should be handled with care. At a meeting in New Delhi on April 7 Home Minister Rajnath Singh had asked Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to provide land in the state for composite townships for Kashmiri Pandits.
