India, Rwanda sign aviation, visa deals |
India and Rwanda signed a bilateral air services agreement enabling direct flights between the two countries. RwandAir will start flying Mumbai to Kigali from April 2017. This is among thethree memorandums of understanding (MoUs) concluded duringVice-President Hamid Ansari`s State Visit to the African nation. Rwandan Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi and Ansari witnessed the signing of the MoUs. The other two MoUs pertain to the setting up of an entrepreneurial development centre in Rwanda and exemption of visa for entry of diplomatic and officialpassports. The agreements were signed in the presence of a largebusiness delegation from India at the newly constituted India-RwandaBusiness Forum organised by the FICCI and the Rwandan government. Amar Sinha, Secretary (Economic Relations), External Affairs Ministry, said India learnt a lot about what the Rwandan governmentwanted from India, including the desire of many pharmaceutical companies to open shop in the country and to have Bollywood films shotin Kigali. The Rwandan government wants to encourage tourism. Rwanda feels tourism from India to New Zealand picked up after Bollywood started shooting films there.
