India foils terror attack, threat for Jan 26 |
Even as India foiled a terror attack in Gujarat waters on January 1, 2015, security agencies said groups of Pakistani terrorists have positioned themselves at eight to nine launch pads along the Line of Control and international border in Jammu & Kashmir to attempt terror on Republic Day January 26th. Terrorists are waiting to infiltrate under the cover of fire provided by Pakistani forces, for carrying out attacks in India ahead of US President Barack Obama`s visit. Intelligence reports have indicated that the potential infiltrators, who have organized themselves in groups ranging from four to five members to 40-45 members. Home ministry officials also underlined that tough response by BSF troops was essentially to send out a stern message of zero tolerance towards any misadventures by Pakistan such as ceasefire violations and firing on Indian forces. The Pakistani boat that exploded off Gujarat on New Year`s Eve was on the radar of India`s principal technical intelligence agency right after it left the shores of Karachi, highlighting the country`s enhanced maritime security since the 26/11 attacks. In a thrilling high-sea chase on Jan 1 night, Coast Guard ships and aircraft intercepted the suspicious fishing boat about 370 kilometres from Indian shores. Defence ministry statement said as per intelligence inputs received on December 31, a fishing boat from Keti Bunder was planning some illegal transaction in the Arabian Sea. The explosives-laden Pakistani boat blew itself up minutes into the New Year after being pursued by an Indian Coast Guard ship for over an hour. All four crew of the fish trawler that exploded 200 nautical miles (371 km) off Porbandar are suspected to have died in the tense 16-hour-long drama in the Arabian Sea. Neither the boat nor its crew could be recovered due to rough weather.
