Delhi garbage stash |
Cash-strapped Delhi municipal corporations will finally get quarterly share of funds by April 6 to pay salaries to striking sanitation staff. The money will come with a rider from chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to ensure that funds meant for salaries are not diverted. The sanitation staff has not been paid for at least three months. As sanitation workers in east Delhi called off their strike on April 1, the focus of their counterparts in other corporations has now shifted to south and north Delhi. Garbage piles are already present on north Delhi roads. Though South Corporation has been paying its staff salaries, sanitation workers are now demanding arrears and regularization.
