Delhi faces sanitation crisis |
The issue of unpaid municipal sanitation workers in Delhi has turned into a full-blown political battle with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal refusing to help the BJP-led corporations. Meanwhile, BJP protested outside the Vidhan Sabha on March 24 and Congress blamed BJP for the mess. Sanitation workers protested in large groups to demand their dues. Some of them damaged two zonal offices of East Corporation in Shahdara North and South. The workers have threatened to go on strike from March 31 if their demands for salary and confirmed jobs are not fulfilled. Meanwhile, Aaam Admi Party government has promised to bring a full budget with plans and schemes based on public suggestions around May. The Delhi government on March 24 sought a vote on account for three months on the total budget estimates of Rs 37,750 crore for 2015-16.
