Delhi drunk drivers to lose license |
Indian capital of Delhi is coming down sternly on drunk drivers and rightly so. The Supreme Court likened a drunk driver to a suicide bomber. Traffic Police has asked the transport department to cancel licenses of even first-time offenders as a deterrent. 90 such licenses have been recommended for cancellation this week. A police officer said the request was made under a provision of section 20(2) of the Motor Vehicle Act where the enforcing authority can ask a magistrate to order the cancellation or suspension of a driving license.
