Central rule in Uttarakhand |
Sacked Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on March 27 condemned the imposition of President`s Rule in the state, alleging that the BJP-led central government was "after the blood of the state government" from the very start. They had been threatening the Uttarakhad government and the state governor. Rawat alleged that the BJP-led central government was thirsty for him and his government`s blood from the Day One since heassumed office in February 2014.Rawat addressed the media hours after President Pranab Mukherjee okayed the Union Cabinet`s recommendation to sack his government and impose President`s Rule in the state.Union finance minister Arun Jaitley however justified the move, saying Uttarakhand was a `text-book case` for enforcing President`s rule. Earlier, the Speaker said in writing that `the Division was sought but I treat the bill as passed`... This is for the first time in the history of independent India that a bill is shown as passed even when it has been defeated! The state Governor had given Rawat until 28th March to prove his majority.
