Bollywood appeal to Jats |
The protests by Jats demanding Other Backward Classes (OBC) status rages on and several parts of Haryana remained under curfew even on February 21, seven days after the entire ordeal started. Nine people have been killed across the state so far.Bollywood celebs, who belong to the state, have taken it upon themselves to appeal to the raging parties to calm down. Actor Randeep Hooda, who is currently shooting for the Sarbjit biopic, was the first one from Bollywood to react to the goings-on in Haryana. Following this, actor Parvin Dabas, known for his role in films like `Monsoon Wedding,` `Khosla Ka Ghosla` and `My Name Is Khan,` recorded a video, where he appeals to the agitating parties to talk it out instead of fighting over things. In his video, the actor reminds his brethren that they are known for their unmatched valour and that fighting over the issue would only take away from that image. Wrestler-turned-actor, Sangram Singh, who entered showbiz with a stint in a TV reality show and later appeared in a film, Uvaa, also made an appeal for the people of his state to keep calm. In his video, Sangram establishes a connect with the Jats, claiming to be one of their own. He then goes on to reason with the agitating side by pointing out that the blood being shed is their own and won`t amount to anything.
