BJP sweeps Delhi municipal polls |
The BJP has swept Delhi Municipal polls, the results for the three regional municipal corporations were declared on April 26, 2017. The other parties likes of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress fared below expectations. The BJP gave the credit to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi wave. The BJP got 184 seats as against AAP`s 46 and Congress` 30 and others ten. The president of the Delhi Congress Party Ajay Maken resigned taking the responsibility for the rout. AAP`s president and the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accepted the defeat but declined to quit in spite of the BJP`s pressure to quit office othe Chief Ministership of Delhi as the voters of Delhi rejected his party and its leadership.
