Quit India anniversary |
Parliament began its Aug 9th, 2017 session with a special commemorative discussion on the 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement both in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed Mahatma Gandhi`s “Karenge ya marenge” (do or die) slogan, saying India needs to tackle its challenges of poverty, lack of education and malnutrition. Congress president Sonia Gandhi recalled the Quit India Movement struggle and added that secularism and free speech are in danger today.
