Indian orthopedic surgeon |
A memorial service to celebrate the life of a retired Indian surgeon was held recently at the Hindu Temple of Greater Cincinnati in Ohio, USA. Dr Premanand Nayak, an orthopedic surgeon, passed away at the age of 80. Dr Nayak lived in Ontario, Canada, from 1972 to 1980, and later moved to Cincinnati, where he practised until his retirement in 2012. His desire to pursue medicine stemmed from his deep compassion for the needy of his native country India. For years, he worked in a government hospital in India and provided free services to the poor. He specialized in orthopedics and moved to Ontario, where he specialized in arthroscopic knee surgery, carpel tunnel surgery and rotator cuff repairs. He continually advised his patients to quit smoking and to lose weight if they want healthy bones.
