IT-Delhi, IIT-Bombay, IISc among world`s top 200 |
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Bombay, IIT-Delhi and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, have found a place in the top 200 universities in the latest edition of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, the Indian Express reported. India boasts of three of the top 200 universities in the world for the first time as IIT-Bombay grabbed the 179th rank this time from 219th last year, IIT-Delhi rose to 172nd from the 185th rank and IISc slipped by 38 places to 190. Five Indian universities feature among the global 100 for research indicator. However, there is still plenty of room for improvement, especially in the `employers reputation` indicator, suggesting that a closer collaboration between the corporate world and the leading universities is essential. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was placed as the world`s best university for the sixth consecutive year in the overall rankings. Stanford University is the world`s second best and Harvard University the third best institutions.
